The Early Years

Dr. Jennifer Fenster was born and raised in Monroe, New York. After primary and secondary education at local schools, she studied biology at Cornell University, with a concentration in genetics.

Medical Degree & Residency

She received her medical degree at MCP-Hahnemann University School of Medicine (currently Drexel University College of Medicine) in Philadelphia, where she served as the American Medical Student Association chapter president. She completed her pediatric residency training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. While serving families of the Bronx, she developed a passion for treating patients of various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds as well as diverse healthcare needs.

In Practice

After practicing pediatrics for a few years in a suburban community in Bergen County, New Jersey, Dr. Jennifer took a leave of absence to care for her own growing family. During this time, she became a beloved and well-respected physician at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires, and she actively contributed as a member of the year-round medical committee, establishing and implementing health policies for the camp.

Dr. Jennifer is now excited to be part of Sound Beach Pediatrics, where she hopes to combine her medical and clinical knowledge and expertise with her various public health, teaching, communications, and leadership experience. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics.

At Home & In The Community

Dr. Jennifer spent several years working in SAR Academy, a private school in Riverdale, New York, serving in multiple roles: medical consultant, middle school science teacher, health educator for adolescent girls, and Director of Communications. In addition, she trained educators about school health and safety, allergies in school, and basic emergency care, and served on SAR’s COVID-19 medical committee.

Dr. Jennifer lives with her four children in Riverdale, New York, where she is an active member of her synagogue and school community. She has participated in several half marathons in Washington, D.C. and New York City on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In her spare time, Dr. Jennifer loves to run and power walk, hike, write, and experiment with new healthy recipes.
