Blair Hammond MD Dr. Blair
The Early Years
Dr. Blair Hammond was born and raised in Darien, Connecticut. She attended Greenwich Academy from first through twelfth grade. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in Studio Art. During her time at Dartmouth, she coached the sailing team and spent a year working in a molecular genetics research lab. She then returned to Greenwich Academy to teach biology and chemistry for two years prior to medical school.
Medical Degree & Residency
Dr. Hammond received her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her pediatric residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she was recognized with the Clinician-Educator Award.
She went on to complete a fellowship in Medical Education at Mount Sinai Hospital and served as Pediatric Clerkship and Sub-Internship Course Director from 2006–2017, overseeing the education of medical students. In 2010, she received the Mount Sinai Excellence in Teaching Award.
In Practice
Dr. Hammond founded the General Pediatrics Faculty Practice at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2008, where she continues to care for patients while teaching residents and medical students. She has been recognized as a New York Magazine Top Doctor multiple times (2016, 2018, 2020–2025).
In 2015, she co-founded the Mount Sinai Parenting Center, where she serves as Director of Medical Education. The Center is dedicated to supporting child development and strengthening parent-child relationships through accessible resources for families and providers.
Dr. Hammond is passionate about a preventive, relationship-based approach to pediatric care, with a focus on behavior, development, and mental health. She is excited to join Sound Beach Pediatrics in Spring 2026 and looks forward to caring for families in the community while continuing her work at Mount Sinai Hospital and the Mount Sinai Parenting Center.
At Home & In The Community
Dr. Hammond enjoys being outdoors – running, sailing, and spending time with her family and friends. She lives in Larchmont, New York with her husband, three children, and their dog, Dinghy.
Dr. Hammond is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Early Childhood and serves on the advisory board for the Center for the Transition to Parenthood.
