MESSAGE FROM DR. KATY: 7/20/20
Dear Sound Beach Pediatrics Families,
Dr. Henry and I hope you are enjoying summer and time outdoors! We both wanted to share with you some important updates regarding the practice.
We have exciting news that Dr. Maggie Malloy will be returning to work in September! She has been very busy at home caring for her beautiful, healthy twins and her adorable older two children. (Take a peek here!) We are thrilled about her return, as we know so many of you are, and that she will be caring for patients here so soon!
We have been delighted to see so many of our patients for well visits this summer and to provide vaccinations. Our staggered schedule and “extended waiting room” in the car has enabled us to see a large volume of families efficiently and without office traffic. Our schedule is lively, but our waiting rooms are quiet and empty! Fortunately, there are very few children who are sick at this time, and we have been able to manage their care quite seamlessly through telemedicine.
We have been busy improving our space! While we continue to see only well patients in our office at this time, we are busy making preparations for the fall and winter. At your next visit, you will find plexiglass windows in both reception areas, as well as a door to formally separate the North and South Sides.
Dr. Henry and I realize that there is a sense of uneasiness as we approach fall and winter, particularly with the reopening of schools and the return of common viruses like RSV and influenza in the context of the uncertain course of COVID19 in our community. While we have not set the official date to resume in-office sick visits, we have been busy preparing for months. In addition to our office space improvements as noted above, we have been responsibly gathering PPE (personal protective equipment) as it becomes available through our vendors and the Town of Stamford. The safety of our patients and our staff is, as always, our number one priority!
We will be working diligently to vaccinate our patients in the coming months, particularly with flu vaccine. We will let you know about our flu clinic schedule as soon as the vaccine becomes available to us. This timing (and the supply) is now guided entirely by the State of Connecticut, which provides influenza vaccine to all children in the state.
Dr. Henry and I, and all of us at Sound Beach Pediatrics, look forward to seeing you in our office (or virtually through telemedicine) in the coming months. Thank you for the privilege of caring for your family!
As always, we welcome your feedback! Please send your ideas, comments and suggestions to us securely through our portal or through email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
