Sound Beach Pediatrics has hit a home run

with new physician Dr. Jonah Mandell!

Dr. Jonah will be starting at Sound Beach Pediatrics on July

15! He is thrilled to be entering private practice and launching

a new chapter of his medical career.

The Early Years

Dr. Jonah was born and raised in New York City. He attended

Friends Seminary, a Quaker school in Manhattan, from

kindergarten through 12th grade. After some adjustment

leaving “the best city in the world,” he attended Brandeis

University graduating with a double major in biology and

economics. While at Brandeis, he also was a left hand pitcher

on the varsity baseball team. After graduation, he moved back

to NYC where he worked in a neuroscience lab at Cornell

Medical School, coached a high school baseball team in

Riverdale, and simultaneously got a Master’s Degree in

Molecular Biology at Hunter College. After realizing that basic

science would not be his life’s work, he decided to pursue his

true passion…medicine.

Medical Degree & Residency

Dr. Jonah received his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. He then went to Hartford, Connecticut to complete his residency in pediatrics at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.  After completing residency, he stayed on another year as a pediatric chief resident in order to take advantage of an exciting leadership opportunity.

Dr. Jonah is thrilled to be starting a new chapter of his medical career. Having spent the last four years in an academic center, he is eager to continue practicing evidenced-based medicine in a new setting. His osteopathic training has encouraged him to see patients with a wholistic view, rather than to simply focus on the disease process at hand.

Dr. Jonah loves teaching medicine, whether with patients or their families, so they can feel more at ease about their illness—big or small.

As a New Yorker and recently calling Hartford home, Dr. Jonah believes Stamford will be an excellent location for him. When not working, you can find him spending time thinking about all New York sports teams, doing all types of puzzles, and cooking in the kitchen!
